Kirkintilloch Youth Band was founded in 2008 and has already won several competitions including Gold in the 2011 Scottish Youth Championships Novice section at Perth Concert Hall.

Under the direction of Lynda Nicholson, the band has gone from strength to strength offering children from Primary 6 to S6 weekly tuition with the chance to participate in band workshops, competitions and concerts.

Kirkintilloch Youth Band was awarded a grant, two years ago, by Creative Scotland through the Youth Music Initiative (YMI) which has enabled the children to receive weekly brass tuition supplemented by workshops for both children and tutors. George Kelly, Performance and Development Officer for Instrumental Music at East Dunbartonshire Council's partnership with the band has been invaluable in the grant being awarded.

Kirkintilloch Youth Band  (A band) were crowned Scottish Champions at the 2011 Scottish Youth Chanpionships Novice section at Perth Concert Hall.
